Epstein - Where are raw the Jail Videos?

The Epstein FBI evidence list has been released, but where are the raw jail videos?

You can access the evidence list here. I've reviewed this evidence specifically looking for any hint of the Epstein jail videos that were released earlier this month. I'm also looking for any indications that the FBI Computer Analysis Response Team (CART) handled that evidence. FYI - I am a former FBI Senior Forensic Examiner who was part of CART.

Everything that is logged into the FBI evidence control system is given a 1B number if it's bulky evidence. This evidence sits in the evidence control room. The first piece of evidence will be assigned the 1B number 1B1. The numbers are incremented as evidence is received. This list also contains 1D numbers, which are ELSUR evidence - think wire taps and things of that nature. It's controlled by ELSUR and is stored and tracked separately from the 1B items.

The 1B numbers in this case, 50D-NY-3027571, list start at 1B1 and end at 1B146. There are no missing numbers. Now, there are certainly plenty of computers, iPads, hard drives, and so on that were seized. However, I am looking for the jail videos that came from the DVR system seized after Epstein's death on Aug 10, 14, and 15, 2019

The only item I found that provided any indication of a DVR system was 1B111 a Unifi videoM/N: UVC-NVR-2TB. This is a network DVR system that contains one 2 TB hard drive. This is not the prison DVR system, as it only contains one hard drive, whereas the prison DVR 2 system contains more than one hard drive. This is a DVR system used for home use, and I've found references from it being available as early as 2017, which also rules out that this was the prison DVR system since it's newer than the prison DVR system.

The following evidence items were generated by CART
  • 1B146: (U) ONE CELLOPHANE containing: NYC032395 - One (1)DVD-R containing image log files and FTK reports for system information on selected items.
  • 1B145: (U) Red Rope Containing;NYC032391 - Three (3) LTO 6 tape cartridges containing an Arcserve backup of all digital evidence from Submission ID 219407.
  • 1B144: (U) Red Rope Containing;NYC032392 - Two(2) LTO 6 tape cartridges containing an Arcserve backup of all digital evidence from Submission ID 215974.
  • 1B136: (U//FOUO) ONE RED ROPE containing: Highly confidential responsive material to include nude and semi nude images and videos from digital evidence items processed by CART.
This is expected evidence. I see two different CART requests were submitted in this case, CART Submission IDs 215974 and 219407. There's no way to know what evidence was requested to be examined with these requests based on this information.

It's totally possible and realistic that a new case number was opened to investigate the Epstein death. If that's the case, all of that evidence would be logged into evidence control under that case number and have a separate list of 1B numbers. That would explain why those jail videos are NOT present in this list.

If you know of a separate FBI case number for the Epstein death investigation, please let me know.

If you need a Digital Forensic Examiner for your next criminal defense or civil litigation, head over to my calendar and book some time with me to get started.
